Many of today’s NHL players spend a little time developing in the American Hockey League and collectors can get a look at some of them before their big break with 2016-17 Upper Deck AHL Hockey.
With this being the fourth season of Upper Deck producing cards of minor league stars, there have been some small tweaks to the brand which should appeal to prospectors and local fans alike once it arrives in stores and via Upper Deck e-Pack in March.
Base Set and Parallels
2016-17 Upper Deck AHL Hockey once again has a 150-card set which is split up into 100 regular cards along with 50 short printed base cards that come once per pack. For the first time, there will be Red parallels for an added collecting challenge (3:20 packs).
Autographs
One of the staples of this brand has been the Autographs and they should be available as a parallel for most cards in the base set. This season, there are three of them per box – a reduction from previous years where there were five inside. There are two autos from the base set and one SP auto per box on average.
Inserts
Only one type of insert card will be coming out of packs of 2016-17 Upper Deck AHL Hockey, but it is definitely a fan-friendly one that features many of the league’s popular Mascots (1:5). There is also a Team Logo Window Cling inserted as a box topper.
